OpticalRevEng Dental is the sofware used to craete and edit the Range Images obtained with the Open Technologies Dental Scanners.
The application has been designed to allow the following operations:
- 3D optical scanning: The generation of "Range Images" of the opject inside the scanner
- Alignment of the range images: The group of functins that allows to integrate the scanning of different objects, or portions of objects, in order to place them accurately compared to each others
- Cleaning of the range images: Tools that allow to delete the undesired scattered points that can be present after the scanning
- Generation of triangle mesh: The group of procedures and algorithms that can transorm the range images produced from the scanner into triangle meshes that can be used with other CAD/CAM systems
- Editing the meshes: Tools for the elaboration of the meshes; (E.g. smoothing, hole filling, ...)
All the information needed are logically organized inside a Project. The scanning data addition or midification operations always take place inside a Project that can be saved or loaded from the disk.
The software support two different kinds of projects:
- Free Projects: Every element is indipendent from the other, all the logic is in the hand of the user
- Structured Projects: The element are related by each other based on a Job Definition made by the user or imported from another software
Many of the consideration in this manual are valid for both the project types.
